Margaret Aldean Miles

Margaret Aldean Alexander Miles, age 81, of Greeneville, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2012, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, surrounded by her family.

She was a 1949 graduate of Greeneville High School and graduated from Greeneville Business School in 1950. After business school, her first employment was with Ford Motor Company. Later she became office manager at Paty Lumber Company where she was employed for several years and later worked at the Greene County ASCS office and Maganvox.

Mrs. Miles was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution ,Nolachuckey Chapter, member and treasurer of the Greene County Genealogical Society, past treasurer of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Trinity U.M. Church, and was the treasurer of the Reunion Committee for the 1949 Class of Greeneville High School.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Don C. Miles, whom she married on April 19, 1952; two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and Larry Bible and Connie and Paul A. Moore, Jr.; sister: Mildred Purgason all of Greeneville; five grandchildren and their spouses: Seth and Kristy Bible of Wake Forest, NC, Rachel and Michael Bryan of Franklin, TN, Rebecca and Jeremy Shepherd of Greeneville, Lauren and J. D. Shields of Midlothian, TX, and Paula Ruth Moore of Nashville, TN; seven great-grandchildren: Chloe, Tate, and Laney Bible, Greta and Sophia Bryan, Kingston and baby girl Shepherd, and Rhett Brannan Shields; two nieces and one nephew and their spouses: Doug and Charlotte Easterly, Ann and Jay Birdwell, and Janie and Jerry Strom; several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hugh and Reed Alexander; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bruce and Georgia Miles.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 5 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Darris Doyal, Rev. Dr. David Green, and Rev. Dr. Seth A. Bible will officiate. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Bible, Paul A. Moore, Jr., Seth Bible, Michael Bryan, Jeremy Shepherd, and J. D. Shields.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith and Millie Pierce, members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Trinity U.M. Church, members of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, friends at Portia’s Beauty Shop, friends from the Hardee’s Breakfast Club, members of the Greeneville High School Class of 1949, and the officers of the Greene County Genealogical Society.
