Rex Solomon, 56, of Greeneville, owner/operator of Rex’s Paint & Body, passed away Friday evening, May 17, 2013, at his home.
He attended Bradburn Hill United Methodist Church and was a member of Moose Lodge No. 692. Rex loved spending time with family and friends and it was noted by his sons, that he was an outstanding father. He enjoyed horses, cars, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Vicki Davis Solomon; two sons and daughters-in-law: Lance and Jennifer Solomon of Moshiem and Jon and Nicole Solomon of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Chelsey Solomon, Dallas Solomon, and Kaytelyn Solomon; parents: L.C. and Violet Solomon of Afton; sister and brother-in-law: Penny and Rick Bible of Greeneville; three brothers-in-law and their wives: Larry Davis of Greeneville, Steve and Ann Davis of Raleigh, NC, and Donnie and Jayne Ann Davis of Greeneville; two nieces and their husbands: Stacy and Phillip Cutshaw and Becky and Mike Merrick; one nephew: Mark Davis; one great-niece: Amelia Grace Merrick; three uncles and their wives: Paul and Betsy Parton, Kenneth and Linda Solomon, and W. D. and Janet Solomon; several cousins and special friends.
He was a grandson of the late Ray and Launa Solomon and Girstle and Ruth Parton. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Vanis and Lois Davis.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 5 – 7 p. m. on Monday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow visitation in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel at 7 p.m. on Monday. The Rev. Jimmy Fillers and the Rev. Roger Crim will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Tuesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 2 p.m. committal service.
Active pallbearers will be David Douthat, Larry Davis, Steve Davis, Donnie Davis, Mark Davis, Gerry Long and Bill Haxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Bowers, Woody Guinn, Bob Casteel, Jerry Casteel, Richard and Kathy Spears, David Shelton, Ronnie Arwood, Darrell Anderson, and Hobey Hughes.
