Robert Andrew Fincher

Robert Andrew “Bob” Fincher, age 80, of Rolling Hills Road, Greeneville, passed away Monday morning, June 24, 2013, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was a retired employee of Huyck Formex Company.

Mr. Fincher was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club, which he attended as long as his health permitted. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved sports whether it was watching the grandkids or watching it on television. He was the most compassionate person you would ever meet.

Survivors include the love of his life of 55 years: Helen Geraldine Ball Fincher; three devoted daughters and sons-in-law: Phyllis and Terry Dyke of Mosheim, Karen and Jeff McCamey of Greeneville, and Melissa and Richard Banks of Mosheim; four special grandchildren: Brandy and Joe Cooter of Greeneville, Rachel Banks and Micah Banks of Mosheim, Tyler McCamey of Asheville, NC; one loving great-grandchild: Colton Cooter of Greeneville; one brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Joann Fincher of Mosheim; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Blanche and William “Bill” Johnson of Greeneville and Lois Jean and Everette Janeway of Mosheim; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bobby and Adeline Ball, Billy and Debbie Ball, Rickey and Elaine Ball of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Vallie Fincher and was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arel and Lorine Ball; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: R. L. and Mary Ball.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Roger Cutshall, Rev. Roger Crim, and Pastor Stephen Aiken will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be Tyler McCamey, Edward Seay, Charlie Janeway, Ray Ball, Eli Cutshall, and Randy McCamey.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Charles Montgomery, Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. Grant Taylor, Dr. Robert Strimer, Mountain States Hospice, to the staff of 5200 wing at Johnson City Medical Center and to our family and friends for their food, help, and support.
