James F. Schofield

James F. “Jim” Schofield, age 72, of West Andrew Johnson Highway, Bulls Gap, passed away Sunday morning, July 18, 2010, at his home.

He was a retired businessman and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Mr. Schofield will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and straight forward person, who influenced many former employees and people.

Keeping his memory alive are his loving wife: Nell Schofield; six children and their spouses: Marvin Dorton, Marlene and Ronnie Thompson, Jimmy and Teresa Schofield, Tim and Pam Schofield, Kent and Rhonda Schofield, and Larry and Ann Schofield; grandchildren and spouses: Marvin Dorton II, Brian Dorton, Tara Boswell, Melissa and Jason Brantley, Stephen and Tara Thompson, Racheal King, Falyn and Ron Fillers, Lindsey Schofield, Terri Honeycutt, Marcus Schofield, Holly Schofield, Kelly Schofield, Shasta and Shannon Black, Daniel Schofield, Malachi Wilkerson, Jeremiah Schofield, Michael Schofield, Michelle and Hunter Brown; several great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Madge Schofield of Alabama, Harlan and Ann Schofield, and Clifford and Patricia Schofield all of Florida; one sister and brother-in-law: Ann and Edward Brown of Florida; his “favorite” sister-in-law: Marie Caldwell of Hixson, TN; several nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers: Louise Rhea, Dave Sexton, Virginia Brown, Shasta Black, Falyn Fillers, and James Leslie and Bridgett Dow of Amedisys Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Olive Mae (Hood) and James F. Schofield, Sr.; one brother: David Schofield; a good friend and brother-in-law: Harold R. Daniels.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p. m. Tuesday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Kimery and the Rev. Sam Smith will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a. m. Wednesday to go in procession to Mosheim Central Cemetery for the 10 a. m. committal services.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p. m. on Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Marcus Schofield, Marvin Dorton II, Stephen Thompson, Tony Williams, J. Allan Brogan, Billy Wise, and Patrick Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Leslie, Dr. Kenneth Susong, Dr. Allison Prinz, Eugene Carter, Henry Susong, Sonny Marsh, Donnie Jinks, and Bill Cupp.
