Gavin Bryce Cate, 21, of Greeneville, died Sunday, April 28, at Greeneville Community Hospital West following a long battle with mental illness.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Ann LaPolt, and two grandfathers, John LaPolt and Jerry Cate.
Gavin is survived by his sister Kendyl Cate; half-sister Makayla Cate; father Ryan Cate; paternal grandmother Vivian Cate, and maternal grandmother Bernice LaPolt, all of Greeneville, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Gavin was born February 22, 1998, in Greeneville. A 2016 graduate of Greeneville High School, Gavin was an advanced video gamer who enjoyed making gamer walk-through videos and freelanced in computer editing. He was very family oriented, and friends and loved ones remember Gavin’s loyalty to them, his sense of humor, and love of his cats Simba and Scar.
The family would like to thank those compassionate friends, teachers, loved ones, and neighbors who supported Gavin throughout his life.
Visitation will take place 6 pm to 8 pm Friday, May 10, at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
A graveside service will take place 10:30 am Saturday, May 11, at Oak Grove Cemetery, where he will be buried next to his mother and grandfather.
