Marilyn Ruth Carlton, 76, of the Kingsport Highway, passed away early on Monday morning at her home.
She was a retired state nurse and a homemaker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and it is a comfort to know that she is at rest.
Survivors include a son, Michael Carlton and wife, Linda; three grandchildren: Adriana, Malachi, and Tonya Carlton; three great-grandchildren: Colt Fillers, Abigail and Jordan Parkins; one sister: Aletha Nelson; one brother: Jerry Vincent; one sister-in-law: Gloria Vincent; a special niece, Terry Lamons and husband, George; special nephew: Brent Lamons; and a host of other nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Billy James Carlton on August 26, 2018; son: James Thomas Carlton; her mother: Florence Vincent; brother: Robert Vincent.
A family graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery. A time of fellowship for family and friends will be held at Union Temple United Methodist Church at a later date.
