Mike “Bruno” Davenport, age 79, of Greeneville, passed away Saturday morning at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born on May 23, 1940, in Greeneville, a son of the late Doris (Stanbery) and Carl Cranston Davenport, Sr.
Mike served in the United States Navy. He retired from the flooring industry, having worked most of his career for Doughty-Stevens Flooring and Jaynes Flooring.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and Greeneville Moose Lodge No. 692. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge and V.F.W. Post No. 1990.
Mike loved life and his family. He had many interests that he greatly enjoyed: golf, tennis, dancing, and collecting sailboats.
Survivors include his wife: Donna Bolton Davenport; one son and daughter-in-law: Randy Curtis and Renda Davenport; one daughter: Laura Elizabeth Davenport and partner, Steve Carter; three step-children: Heather Scott, Jowanda Neil Summers, and David J. Neil; grandchildren: David Summers, Alex Summers, Bambi Winter and husband, Erich, Wyatt Barkley, and Ruby Sky Scott; two great-grandchildren: Zane Winter and Mia Winter; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Keith and Harlene Davenport, Bill and Helen Davenport; one sister and brother-in-law: Diana Eliza and Terry Pope; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Barbara Davenport, Jim Bolton, Patricia and Donnie Dye, Tammie and Randy Christy, and Ben and Tara Bolton; several nieces and nephews; special friends: John and Robin Beamer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Carl Cranston Davenport, Jr.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 o’clock in the funeral home chapel. Keith Davenport and the Rev. Kenneth Saunders III will officiate. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey military honors during the service.
