Virginia Hughes, age 78, of The Mt. Pleasant Community died Monday, May 20, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant U.M. Church. She was a lifelong educator and retired from Greeneville City Schools after 32 years of service. Survivors include her special friend: Jim Black; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Gary and Edwina Anderson and Greg Anderson; five grandchildren: Holley and Trey Craddock, John David Quillen, Haylee and Tyler Starnes, Daniel Wilhoit, and Wesley Anderson; six great grandchildren: Ella Osborne, Chloe, Ava, Tobiah, and Shelby Craddock, and Asher Starnes; nieces and nephew: Geri and Dwight McInturff, Janie and John Wyatt, Christine Mysinger, Michael Mysinger and Mike and Debbie Hughes; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Mysinger. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years: Jim Hughes; parents: Joe and Mary Mysinger; her brother: Joe Mysinger Jr; and a special aunt: Julia Burrow. The Hughes family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the Memorial Service at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Rev. David Gibbs will be officiating. Per her wishes, her body will be cremated.
