Agnes “Nancy” Orr Houston Kennedy Thomas passed away Tuesday at the age of 96. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on May 11, 1925, to Margaret and John Houston. She was the second of three children. The family moved to Westerly, RI, where Nancy grew up. She met her future husband, Frederick Gordon Kennedy, Jr., in high school and they married in 1945. As Fred served in the Navy, Nancy served her country as a propeller inspector at Hamilton Standard Props. They moved to Greeneville, TN, in 1950 to take advantage of a job opportunity and she lived in East Tennessee the rest of her life. Nancy returned to school and became a LPN and worked as a nurse for 25 years. Nancy is predeceased by her husbands: Frederick G. Kennedy Jr. and John Thomas Jr.; son: Eric B. Kennedy; brothers: Alexander Houston and George Houston. Survivors include sons: Frederick Gordon Kennedy III, John Bruce Kennedy, and Scott Kennedy; grandchildren: Tracie Wilhoit, John Kennedy Jr., Barton Kennedy, Gordon George Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Dakota Brett, Macy, and Brayden Kennedy. Many thanks to the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living and a special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Linda Kennedy, for her love, devotion, and patience in caring for Nancy. No service is planned.
