Alma Hughes Jackson of Viking Place of Greeneville passed away Sunday. She was a lifelong member of Romeo United Methodist Church in Greene County. She was a retired bookkeeper for The Easterly Motor Co. with 33 years of service. Survivors include one brother: Mack Hughes of Greeneville; special niece and her husband, Jan and Eric Kiker of Greeneville; nephews: Keith McAmis of Alcoa, Joe Whitehead of Clewiston, FL, Jason Jackson of Cleveland, TN, and Terry Smith of Savannah, GA; one great-niece and her husband: Kellie and Bill Neve and their daughters: Taylore and Keegan of Texas; one great-nephew: Jon LaLonde and his children: Payten and Liem of Washington State; a foster sister: Fannie King of Talbot and her three daughters: Paulette, Sandra, and Linda; two brothers-in-law: Milo Jackson of Chuckey and Norman Jackson of Fall Branch; special friends: Connie and Jerry Smith, Becky Brooks, Kenny and Debbie Ray, Margaret Ricker, Shelia Harrison, Wendy Nease, Wilma Strong, Mike and Karen Hammitt, and Linda and Joe Snell. Alma was a daughter of the late John R. and Mattie Burns Hughes and she was preceded in death by her husband: Paul Jackson; brother: Charles Hughes; brother-in-law: Alfred Jackson; sister-in-law: Jewell Hughes; sister-in-law: Billie Jo McAmis and her husband, Billy; sister-in-law: Dorothy Whitehead and her husband, J.D. Whitehead; niece: Kathy Hughes LaLonde. At Alma’s request there will be no formal visitation. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with Mayor Kevin Morrison officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chimes Mausoleum at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Hammitt, Kenny Ray, Jerry Smith, Eric Kiker, Bill Guy, and Milo Jackson. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
