Anna Belle Broyles

July 19, 1930 - January 9, 2022

Anna Belle Broyles, age 91, of Chuckey, the South Central Community, passed away Sunday evening at Johnson City Medical Center. She retired from MECO and was a foster grandparent at South Central Elementary School for several years. She was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include her two sons and a daughter-in-law: Warren Gene Penley and Kyle “Boots” and Sharon Penley; grandchildren: Joshua Moody, Alexander Penley, Brandy White, Kyle Shane Penley, Alicia Martin, and Tonya Broyles; great-grandchildren: Nila Shea Moody, Haley Penley Hoffman, Zachary Wilds, Gracie White, Summer Martin, Saffeara Martin; sister: Ella Mae Erwin; niece and nephew: Gary Cutshaw and Teresa Walters (who was like a daughter); and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Fird and Bertie Dunbar; first husband: Grover C. Penley; daughter: Donna Lynn Moody. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Saults officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Warren Gene Penley, Kyle “Boots” Penley, Steven Martin, Bill Dearstone, Shane Penley, Zack Wilds, and Melvin Saults. Honorary pallbearers will Virgil Lee Dunbar, Johnny Mack Brown, Tommy Brown, Guy Lee Brown, Henry Brown, Tommy Hensley and Billy Scalf.
