Betty Hankins Gott

April 28, 1929 - March 31, 2006

Obituary Betty Hankins Gott of 180 Hankins Spring Lane, Greeneville, died Friday, March 31, 2006 at her home. She was 76.A lifelong member of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Gott had served as Treasurer of Circle #1 of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry and was the recipient of the Golden Patron membership. She was a member of the Covenant Life Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gott was retired after 42 years as bookkeeper at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of the Democratic Women's Club and the Women of the Moose.Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William C. Gott; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Dick Parrack, Mary Ellen and Johnny Honeycutt; a son and his wife, Bill and Beverly Gott; seven grandchildren, Rebekah McCamey McGill, Sam McCamey, Scott Honeycutt, Jenny Honeycutt-Royal, Sydney Honeycutt, Kristi Gott, and Willie Gott; two great-grandchildren: A.J. McGill and Dawson McGill; a sister, Mary Katheryn McInturff; a sister-in-law: Mary Ruth Hankins; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Gypsy Norton; and a special friend, Jewel Bell.Mrs. Gott was the daughter of the late Kitty Clyde and Charlie L. Hankins, and was preceded in death by one sister, Leora Hankins Bullen, and three brothers, Tommy Hankins, Alvin Lee Hankins, and Charles R. Hankins.The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mary Ellen and Johnny Honeycutt.The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Mr. Jamie Lively and the Reverend Dr. Roy Blakeburn will officiate. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.Pallbearers will be Scott Honeycutt, Sam McCamey, Willie Gott, Doug Norton, Rick McGill, and Lance Royal.Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Covenant Life Class of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and two special caregivers from Adventa Hospice, Shelby McLaughlin and Lina Ridge.Memorial contributions may be made to Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 201 North Main Street, Greeneville, TN 37745.
