Clyde Franklin

June 22, 1938 - April 19, 2022

Clyde Franklin, age 83, of Parrottsville, the Long Creek Community, passed away at his home peacefully Tuesday morning surrounded by his family. He was born in the Long Creek Community on June 22, 1938, a son of the late Roscoe and Vestina Franklin. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Sherman Hollow Independent Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Jenny Franklin; four children: Rev. Terry Franklin, Doug (Darlene) Franklin, Tammy (Gary) Lister, and Mark (Nikki) Franklin; six grandchildren: Lydia (Wesley) Couch, Matthew Franklin (Taylor Jonas), Paige (Crystal) Franklin, Madison Franklin, Jonothan (Travea) Lister, and Danica Lister; three great-grandchildren: Lucas Couch, Reid Couch, and Blake Franklin; siblings: Johnny (Cindy) Franklin, Linda Norton, Barbara Crum, and Virginia (Robert) Melton; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved and treated as his children; and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Shelly Franklin; siblings: Lester, Dewey, Oscar, Elizabeth, Betty Jane, and Lucille. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Robert Johnson and the Rev. Terry Franklin will officiate. Committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at White’s Cemetery, 4020 Sherman Hollow Road, Parrottsville. The family is meeting at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home at 9 a.m. if anyone wishes to join the procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Ball, Gary Lister, Matthew Franklin, Paige Franklin, Wesley Couch, and Dennis Bowers. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Caris Healthcare: Zonya Cureton, Alexis Tobie, Mary Willis, Jennifer Smith; and to his caregiver: Susie Wendealken.
