James David Grubb Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James David Grubb, age 80, of the Orebank Community, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening with his family by his side. David considered the needs of others rather than himself; he helped and cared without looking for something in return. He was easy going and was loved by his family. James David had worked for Anderson’s, Glenwood School, and Greene Valley Developmental Center. He loved his church, Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He loved teaching Sunday School classes and singing in the choir. He had a love for his country, having served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He later served two years in the National Guard. He enjoyed watching football, especially UT. Survivors include his wife of 55 years: G. Carolyn Grubb, whom he said he thought God had put them together; one son and daughter-in-law: William and Donna Grubb of Greeneville; one granddaughter: Sarah Grubb of Greeneville; goddaughter: Heather Sexton and children: Paisley, Amery, and Dixie of Maynardville; one sister: Novella Caywood of Bristol, TN; mother-in-law: Mary Bell Bible; sister-in-law: Sandy Cansler and friend, Tim Sauceman of Mosheim; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Larry and Donna Bible of Greeneville; special brother-in-law: Randy Bible of Mosheim; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Grubb was the son of the late Charlie and Grace Grubb and was preceded in death by three sisters: Mae Oliver, Ethel Lamb, and Arlene Marshall; two brothers: Charles Grubb and Leroy Grubb; father-in-law: Willie J. Bible; brother-in-law: Stanley Bible. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Fain officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery with the Greene County Honor Guard conveying military honors. Active pallbearers will be William Grubb, Don Henry, Ted Hensley, Terry Beets, Larry Bible, Randy Bible, and Jim Henry. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kathleen Evans Sunday School Class of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
