Jimmy Laws, age 70, formerly of the Debusk Community, died Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Johnson City Medical Center from complications of Covid-19. Mr. Laws was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist Faith. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Laws; two children, James and Crystal Laws and Ashley and Eli Ortiz; three loving grandsons that were close and dear to his heart, Eli and Ethan Coakley and Eliel “Peanut” Ortiz; two sisters, Helen and Tim Smith and Patricia Roberts; brother, Bobby and Barbara Laws; several nieces and nephews including special niece, Kacie Cutshaw Shipley and husband Cody and a special nephew, Cody Cutshaw; and special friends, Gary and Penny Gregg, Walter and Charlene Gregg and Jon and Heather Gregg. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Laws; mother, Rosa Lee Hawk; brother, Jeff Laws; and sister, Deborah Laws. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Dolphus Cutshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm preceding the funeral services on Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm on Wednesday to go in procession to St. Joseph Chapel Cemetery for the 2:00 pm committal service. Active pallbearers will be Cody Shipley, Walter Gregg, Eli Coakley, Ethan Coakley, Donnie “Dink” Mace and James Laws. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Franklin Woods Community Hospital, the staff of floors 2100 and 2300 at Johnson City Medical Center, and Dr. Richard Aasheim.
