Linda Cannon Waddle, age 74, of Greeneville, passed away Sunday afternoon at Johnson City Medical Center as result of a lawnmower accident on Saturday. She was retired from Parker Hannifin with 30 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and the Greeneville Christian Women’s Club. God and family were Linda’s life. Linda enjoyed the outdoors, feeding and watching birds, deer, and flowers. She also enjoyed reading and collecting angels. Linda loved people, especially children and was well-known for handing out suckers. She was always helping others, even in death by being an organ donor. Survivors include her husband: Haskell Waddle; one daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Chris Ricker; one son and daughter-in-law: Duane and Tracy Waddle of Spring Hill, TN; grandchildren: Leia and Emil Thompson and Lesley Waddle of Antioch, TN; sister: Joy Rutherford; nieces: Julie and Heath Cutshall, and Becky Knight; great-nephews: Dennis Cannon, Cole Knight, and Brent Rutherford and wife, Kansas; great-great-nephew: DJ Cannon; great-great-niece: Scarlet Rutherford; many special cousins. Linda was a daughter of the late Dennis and Neta Baxley Cannon and was preceded in death by a sister: Denise Cannon; brother: Danny Cannon; and a brother-in-law: Jerry Rutherford. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Dwayne Steele and the Rev. Joel Cook will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens at 1 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to Liberty Cemetery for the 2 p.m. committal service. The family will receive friends from 3 - 7 p.m. Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Randy Baxley, Duane Waddle, Chris Ricker, Leia and Emil Thompson, Dale Waddle, and Josh Cutshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons, trustees, and church family of Mt. Bethel FWB Church, members of the Greeneville Christian Women’s Club, Dr. Charles Montgomery, Chris Castle P.A., and the crew at Aunt B’s. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the ICU staff at Johnson City Medical Center and to the Donor Family AfterCare Program.
