Please join our family on Sunday as we celebrate the life of Lisa Michelle Broyles Penton, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Lisa Penton, age 44, of Green Cove Springs, FL, formerly of Greeneville, passed away Sunday, March 27th, with her husband of 25 years, SSG John Penton II, USMC, Ret. by her side. She leaves her husband and four children: daughter, Jessica and fiancé, Joseph, and Lisa’s first granddaughter, Sophia, of Apex, NC; daughters: Rebecca and Mackenzie and son, Samuel, all of the home; adopted daughter: Alexis Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; parents: Larry and Rita Shelton Broyles of Wise, VA; grandmother: Joyce Broyles and step-grandfather: Bill Hartman both of Greeneville; brother and sister-in-law: Chuck and Sunshine Broyles; nephew and niece: Holdyn Broyles and Lily Broyles of Greeneville; uncle: Tommy Broyles and aunt, Katrena Broyles of Greeneville; and a special lifetime friend, Sandy Southerland of Greeneville. She was preceded in death by a twin sister at birth: Teresa; grandparents: Tom Broyles, Bill Shelton, and Sylvia Shelton Campbell. Lisa was a 1995 graduate of Greeneville High School. After finishing one year at ETSU, Lisa put her career on hold and became a devoted military wife for 20 years and carried on at the home front raising her children. Within the last five years she had finished her BS degree in Human Services and was working on her Master’s degree in Family Therapy. Lisa remained passionate about her past work in the Girl Scouts of America and her work with battered and abused women. She worked in the Jacksonville Court System as an appointed Child Advocate Manager as long as her health permitted. While saddened by her passing, we celebrate the family she and John built. We celebrate the innocence of youth and the wisdom of age. We celebrate her quick wit and infectious sense of humor. We celebrate that she looks like her mom and her children look like her. We celebrate her love of 90’s rock bands. We celebrate her granddaughter, Sophia, who was a fifth generation of the Broyles family. We celebrate that her pain is gone. Join us in a celebration of the life of Lisa Michelle Penton. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The service in celebration of her life will follow at 4:30 in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Bobby Morrison and the Rev. Kevin Shelton will officiate. Interment will be in Horse Creek Church of God Cemetery.
