Obituary Mary Jane Norton, age 71, of Simpson Street, died Monday evening, August 23, 2010, at her home.She was retired from MECO.Survivors include seven children and spouses: Charles Venable, Teresa Bowers, Doug and Peggy Venable, Karen Ripley, Veronica "Squeek" and Greg Robinson, Stacey Norton, and Danny Norton; thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer Venable, Jessica Venable, Brandy and Brandon Malone, Candy Wood, David Venable, Rachel Venable, Tiffany and Ricky Seaton, Heather and Jacob Craine, Brandon Ripley, Kenny Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Jason Greene, and Troy Greene; ten great-grandchildren: Bryant Venable, Destini Venable, Trinity Tilson, Tatin Venable, Randy Jones, Jordan Malone, Bryson Wood, Kaylee Carter, Kayden Craine, Tatyana Ripley; one brother: Rusty Cook; two sisters: Dorothy Owens and Virginia Bennett; special friends, including her "boyfriend": Charles Dixon and Lenora Lowe and Margaret Church.She was preceded in death by her parents: Florence and June Cook; two infant children; one son-in-law: Luke Bowers.Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p. m. Wednesday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Amos Penley will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:15 p. m. Thursday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 3 p. m. committal service.The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p. m. Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.Active pallbearers will be grandsons: David Venable, Brandon Ripley, Kenneth Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Jason Greene, and Charles Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Seaton, Jacob Craine, Tom Walters, Brandon Malone, and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
