Obituary Mary Lee Armitage, 84 of Greeneville, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at her home.She was the widow of Herman Armitage. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Also a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was a foster grandparent for several years at Doak School and the Boys-n-Girls Club of Greeneville.She was a Baptist. She had attended the Lords Tabernacle for several years. She attended Sunnyside Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Jean and Jerry Ricker of Tusculum; one son, Robert Paul Armitage of Greeneville; one stepson and his wife, Grenville and Shirley Taylor of South Hampton, England; four special grandchildren: Jason Allen Ricker, Kelly Joseph Ricker, Brooke LaShae Ricker, and Megan Lea Brooks; one special great-grand-daughter, Laney Mercae Ricker; one sister, Rita Jay Gilland of Bulls Gap; one sister-in-law, Ennis Jones of Knoxville; two brother-in-laws, Charlie Gilland of Greene County and Tyson Gilland of Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special friend, Walter Grimes.She was the daughter of the late Ed and Susie Tweed of Shelton Laurel, North Carolina.She was preceded in death by four sisters: Tennie Gilland, Mildred Gray, Faye Jennings and Minnie Tweed and two brothers Cleve and Ira Tweed.The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Buster Shelton and Rev. Mike Waddell officiating.
