Mike Willis

January 7, 1952 - March 25, 2022

James Michael “Mike” Willis, age 70, passed away Friday morning at Greeneville Community Hospital East. A longtime resident of Greeneville, he worked for Pepsi for three decades, distinguishing himself as an employee and making lifelong friendships. Mike’s passion was his woodworking. He enjoyed many happy hours building in his shop and selling at regional craft fairs. Mike never missed the chance to visit the beach. More than anything, Mike treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a doting Poppy. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Ivy and Wesley Buerkle; two grandchildren: Eleanor Buerkle and Grant Buerkle; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Deborah and Hovie Gregg, Sandra and Rick Phillips, and Miriam Shackleford; nine nieces; one nephew; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Freddie and Doris Crum, Phil Davis, and Grover Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife: Hilda Crum Willis in 2020; parents: James P. and Ida Mae Willis. The body will lie in state at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 12 – 2 p.m. Tuesday for family and friends to pay their respects. A private graveside service will be held at Price’s Cemetery in the Kelley Gap Community.
