Nancy Justice Payne

July 20, 1936 - March 3, 2022

Nancy Justice Payne, age 85, of Greeneville died Thursday, March 3, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Payne retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center and was a member of Bradburn United Methodist Church where she was the Church Treasurer and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dean Payne; two daughters, Krista Whitson (Terry) and Tammy Reaves; five grandchildren, Brad Whitson (Leslie), Tara Cuthrell (Carl), Channa Payne, Kylie Reaves and Macie Reaves; 5 great-grandchildren, Shelby Cuthrell, Carter Cuthrell, Bella Whitson, Charlie Nicholson and Bralie Whitson; sister and special caregiver, Linda Guinn (Keith); nephew, Brian Guinn; niece, Kathy Boles; special caregiver, Letitia “Cissy” Ebmeyer; and a special friend, Kerry Fuller. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by a daughter, Chandra Payne; her parents, Jack and Bertie Justice; two sisters, June Cross and Mary Elizabeth Douthat; and a half-brother, G.D. Boles. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Saturday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with Rev. Rick Clowers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Saturday preceding the funeral service at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Committal services will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday at Graceland Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brad Whitson, Carter Cuthrell, Brian Guinn, Nick Shelton, Kevin Shelton and Randy Tilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Bowers, Tom Hite, John Love and Rad Clanton. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Caris Hospice; Linda Harris, Ashley Lawson, and Leslie Dishner. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bradburn Hill United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
