Ronald K. Ripley, age 85, of Afton, passed away Tuesday morning at Greeneville Community Hospital. He served in the United States Army and retired from United States Army Reserves. He also retired from American Greetings and enjoyed the Greene County Antique Farm and Tractor events. Survivors include his wife of 34 years: Mary Margaret “Margie” Ripley; four children: Tim (Jean) Ripley, Lisa (Randy) Barner, Richard (Shirley) Ripley, and Sheila (Ricky) Pensa; grandchildren: Matthew (Brooke) Ripley, Amanda Ripley, Kelly (Brandon) King, Dustin (Robyn) Ripley, Jimmy Phillips, Belle Ripley, Ethan (Rebecca) Parton, and Tyler (Madison) Parton; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Michael Weems; special neighbor and friend: Janice Aldridge. He was preceded in death by his parents: Newman and Madge Teague Ripley; son: Charles Newman Ripley; two brothers: Howard and Cecil Ripley. The family will receive friends at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 3 – 7 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with the Rev. Rick Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in Carter’s Station Cemetery with the Greene County Honor Guard conveying military honors. Active pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Conry Dyer, Bobby Combs, Fred Adams, and Gary Smith.
