Shelby J. Cutshaw

June 30, 1937 - May 28, 2022

Shelby J. Cutshaw, 84, of Chuckey Doak Road, Afton, died Saturday at Life Care Center of Greeneville. She was born June 30, 1937 in Cocke County, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Chester and Nell Franklin Norton. Shelby retired from the Magnavox Co./Philips Consumer Electronics after 44 years. She attended Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She was a very loving mother and mam-maw. She would do anything for anyone if she could. Survivors include her husband of 67 years: David Cutshaw; children: Arlene and Teddy Price of Greeneville and Jamie Cutshaw of Johnson City; grandchildren: Christy Headrick of Chuckey, Rachel Harrison of Johnson City, Chasity Waddell and Aaron Abelson of Greeneville, Chelsea and Brandon Moyers of Knoxville; great-grandchild: Jameson Wills; great-great-grandchild: Ava Wills; sisters: Thell and Ruble Norton of Greeneville, Gay Croft of Fort Mill, SC; brother: Larry Norton of North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Rena Sexton of Afton and Dorothy Ball of Greeneville; brother-in-law: Prichard Cutshaw of Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Blanche Mathes and Fannie Rogers; brothers: Arnold Norton and Gene Norton. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Billy Gragg will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens by 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service. Pallbearers will be Jameson Wills, Randy Ball, Robert Ball, Kenneth Bitner, Paul Sexton, and Tad Norton. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Life Care Center of Greeneville.
