Don D. Burns, age 79, of Greeneville, died Thursday evening at Greeneville Community Hospital East. Don was retired from United States Air Force after 20 years of service and retired from Civil Service after 21 years. He was a member of Greeneville Moose Lodge No. 692, V.F.W. Post No. 9724 in Jonesborough, and was a member of the American Legion in Maine.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years: Nancy Burns; one son: Jeffery Burns of California; six grandchildren: Aaron and Andrew Duncan, Amber Ryals, Matt Bourgoin, Skye Duncan, and Tesla Dotson; eight great-grandchildren: Adaleigh, Axel, Cameron, Darius, Savannah, Riley, Garrett, and Whitney; one sister: Judy Arris; one sister-in-law: Marian Paine; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Laura Duncan.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. on Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Fain officiating. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey military honors during the service.
